Terms of use
The rules for playing the Flick Frag alpha. It is free, it can break, and cheating and harassment are not allowed.
This page is the handful of rules that apply while you play Flick Frag. It is not a long legal document, just a plain explanation.
What alpha means
Flick Frag is not a finished game. Alpha means it is incomplete and it can break. Something may not work at all, a new version may break something the last one got right, and your settings and your saved things may be wiped.
The game is free for the whole alpha. Nobody asks you for money and nothing inside it is for sale.
The game comes as it is. No promises are made: not about what works, not about staying up, not about the next version turning up. If something goes wrong, what can be done will be done, but there is no guarantee. You download it and run it because you want to.
While you play
- No cheating. Programs that change the game or give you an unfair advantage are not allowed.
- No harassment. Whether you talk or type, do not go after people, do not threaten anyone, and do not attack anyone for who they are.
- Do not wreck anyone's game. Do not try to crash it, lock a room up or cut somebody else off.
- If you are young, ask your family first. If you are under thirteen, do not play online.
Anyone who ignores these can be removed from a room. Rooms can be closed at any time, because the online side sits on top of a service that is free for the alpha. If that service goes away, the online part of the game stops with it and you can still play on your own.
Whoever makes a room runs that room. What is said and typed in a room stays between the players in it; nobody is collecting or keeping it for you. The details are on the Privacy page.
Who owns the game
Flick Frag is made by one person. The game, its name and its logo belong to them.
You can pass the game to a friend, record it, stream it and write about it. You cannot sell it, you cannot publish it as your own game, and you cannot pull pieces out of it for something else. For screenshots and logo files, see the note on the Screens page.
The parts made by other people
The game contains work made by other people: characters, weapons, sounds, fonts and ready made pieces of code underneath it all. Each one comes with its own licence and that licence still applies. You cannot take them out of the game and hand them around on their own.
The online part runs on Epic Online Services, which has its own terms and its own privacy notice: epicgames.com/site/eula and epicgames.com/site/privacypolicy.
If the game later turns up on Steam, Valve's own terms will apply to anyone who plays it from there.
If this changes
These rules can change. If they do, the new version sits on this page, and anything important gets said on Discord as well.
